On the 14th we were able to enjoy the last Atlantis Shuttle Launch, thank you to a husband who works as a contractor for NASA!! We traveled down to Florida on Thursday and then drove to the base on Friday morning – and boy are they right when they say leave early…we got there about three hours before the launch, got into the base and parked along the causeway. The kids and I were all excited and since John at been at one before (about 3 miles closer) he knew what to expect but was excited to be there with his family. He is also training our little man to be a rocket scientist already – in fact he’s ready to teach him calculus since we will be home schooling (that’s a story for another day though)…

There is no way to describe the launch itself, it is something I didn’t have on my ‘bucket list’ but I have to say it is something for everybody’s bucket list. Sad part is that there are only a couple more launches left

These shuttles are amazing. The rockets are unreal. The sound is delayed and cool. The sky was perfect that day. The crowds were a community. The cheers  were a beautiful sound. And now I am “into” it. I will never understand the how and maybe not the why but it is so COOL! I have already asked to go to another one and I’m one that has never been into it…HA!

I hadn’t realized how long it has been since I’ve posted – OH MY! But I’ve been BUSY!! So many sessions that should have been posted – will get some of them up soon…

Last week I meet one of our High School Senior Reps – Madison County High – and she was SO FUN!!! I had finally found a chair that ‘would do’ for what I had envisioned and it turned out great…I’m still in search for a wood/fabric Queen Anne style chair but this yellow ‘70s chair turned out perfect and it’s light weight – HA! Some friends of ours generously let us use their property and it was wonderful since we had the field, a willow tree, a pond, a tractor and even a barn – we didn’t use the barn this time though They were so sweet as they moved the tractor out for us, brought us water (I forgot the cooler) and just kept our Seniors mom company – thank you to R&J!

What an awesome giveaway and how I would LOVE to attend this workshop. First, it is in Michigan, a state with much meaning in my life. Second, I feel this is the type of workshop that would truly strengthen my skills and business but also help me further develop my passion to giving the gift of photography to others.

I have been a designer and artist all my life, I love all things art. My passion for photography became real after my first child was born in 2005 and my Grandfather passed away suddenly of cancer in 2005.  It was at that time I knew I had to Capture Memories, Capture Moments and Capture Life and photography was what I was to do.  It was then I decided to learn as much as I could about photography and pursue this passion so I could share my talent with others.

When my Grandmother was then diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2008 I was so thankful that I had moments of our life with her captured. She is now a survivor of this devastating disease. We are in the south and our families are in the Midwest and as far west as Texas. Because of this each moment of every day is one to be captured for us and them. We all get busy in our day to day activities and I want others to understand the beauty in a Professional Photograph but to me it is a piece of Art. I love seeing the smile on their face when they look at the Photograph, it really makes my heart flip.

My ultimate dream and desire is to give part of every session to the American Cancer Society. My most cherished photograph is four generates of us with my Grandfather, but it is unfortunately not the best in quality or design. I want everybody to have the best possible photograph of their family to cherish for a lifetime. I’m working to create a program called ‘Life Captured’ and this is where we capture a family portrait for those fighting their battle with cancer.

I have been and am so blessed in my life, I want everyone to have that opportunity to feel blessed and be able to look back at their journey in life. I believe I can help in some way with that and what better way to do that than learning new skills from an amazing and giving photographer – somebody who understands this journey. I really don’t know if I have been an inspiration to anybody yet but I hope to some day. I have so many people in my life who have inspired me but my Grandfather and Grandmother inspire me each time a pick up my camera.

There are so many beautiful stories told here and I know the winner deserves every bit of this amazing workshop. Thank you Amy and I Heart Faces for doing all you do!

        

Not to long ago our sweet, innocent little girl decided to get into some “stuff” that she shouldn’t be in…Now, this is not the first time she has gotten into something she shouldn’t but this is her first time getting into this girly stuff

Our first little one did not get into much, you told him not to get into something and he, for the most part, would not get into it. In fact, we never had to put locks on the cabinets or anything. Well, when our second came along that was not the story…more locks go up often around here – HA!

Here is her masterpiece and first make-up job, can you believe she got the mascara on those eyelashes so well? I can’t, we laughed pretty hard at this one and she did not like to us taking the make-up off, I wish I had a picture of that – LOL!!

I was asked the other day what are your hours? It dawned on me that I haven’t ever ‘announced’ my hours. Here are my typical hours:

Tuesday + Wednesday – Session times are typically 8:00 – 4:00

Thursday – Session times are typically 12:00 – 4:00

Saturday and Sunday sessions are available by request.

In the Light of Love Sessions occur in the evenings at dusk, varies based on the time of the year.

Weddings and Events – by appointment only.

Monday + Friday – I typically don’t take appointments on these days but can by special request.

So basically I can be available almost any time upon request

Nothing like putting it out there in the title. As I continue to grow as a person in personal and business life I continue to see how much knowledge is out there and how much every person you meet has to teach us something – I think that is one of the few things I like about getting older – HA!!!

As my Passion for Photography grows and the business grows I have realized that the road to success is with the HELP of others and doing it alone is not the way to go. I look back at the design business I had/have and I realized something, I had so much help from so many for that business to be successful. Yes, I had a network that was built over many years but it was all those that helped me build that business. I am grateful for every person that helped that business grow and succeed.

Today we have the added dynamic of viral marketing that is a really COOL thing! You know that it can really help you grow… I have now seen so many photographers and other business grow all due to blogs, twitter, facebook, and all ‘those’ networking tools available online. Heck, we go to our phones now to find our way or a phone number and just about anything these days. Do you remember 8-tracks or records? I know I do and how far we’ve come…

As I review my business plan, tweak it, change it and continue to ‘work it’ I realized something – ‘Hey! You could ASK for some HELP from your current followers and readers. Really? Could I really do that? or am I crazy to think that? I don’t ask for help often…but why? – Is it pride?, Is it the desire for respect?, Is it about hardwork?; I really don’t know why it is but I need to change that…don’t you think?’

I have such a passion for capturing memories and so much more with two little ones in our life’s. I can’t believe that they are growing so fast and the things/images I can not remember. The other night a friend asked me to go scrapbooking and I am SO glad I did. That maybe what got me thinking all these random thoughts. But seeing the pictures of our sons birth, reading the story my husband wrote about it, and see him grow in those images was PRICELESS.

SO, that all brings me to this – I need your help reaching out to more people (those that know me well know how hard this is for me:-))…I am asking each one of you to help me in one or more of the following ways:

Wow, it has been awhile since I’ve blogged. We have been busy with the holidays, holiday orders and this week illness hit us yet again I know this family is anxiously awaiting a peak at a few pictures and here they finally are…

We had the pleasure of photographing this little guy on Saturday and what a cute little 10 day old he was. And I still can’t believe this is their first, she was a natural, complete opposite of me – HA!!
